Meet Mrs. Annamma Thomas — the heart and hands behind Mumbai Local.
For 45 years, Mumbai was home. She completed her B.Ed there, started a family, and built a career as a school teacher spanning more than three and a half decades — retiring as Assistant Headmistress of one of Mumbai's most prestigious schools.
When she returned to her ancestral home in Kottayam, Kerala — alongside her son and his family — a second innings began. The classroom became a kitchen, and the lessons became flavours. Mumbai Local was born as a cloud kitchen, with her son and daughter-in-law helping bring colour and life to her dream.
Every vada pav, every misal, every bite carries 45 years of Mumbai memory — the chaat-walas of Chowpatty, the tawa kitchens of Dadar, the late-night pav-bhaji stalls. Authentic, honest, and made the way she remembers it.
The next chapter is already taking shape — phase two, a Mumbai Local café, is being built in Kottayam and will open its doors soon, bringing the same kitchen and the same flavours to a place you can sit, sip, and stay a while.
